I knew we were to get a snow storm when I got back from Las Vegas, but who would have ever thought it would be this huge. The storm wasn't expected to hit until about 3 p.m. so we went to Iowa City and got our taxes done and got some groceries so we knew we had plenty of stuff on hand while this storm hit.
The storm started a little sooner than that. We were in Cedar Rapids looking at vehicles when it got REALLY bad. Roads were starting to get shut down, plows were going to be pulled off the roads, tow bans were issued and everything. That was just the beginning.
Within 12 hours (at most) we got about 18 inches of snow. Paul took some pics this morning of where the snow was before being plowed/shoveled. I can tell you that we couldn't see our bottom step at all, our one trash can was completely buried and two of the swings on the swingset were not visible either. It was completely insane. I have NEVER in my life seen such an amount of snow before.
Schools canceled all over the state. Our school district has canceled school for tomorrow as well. Clearing off roads and things will take them a few days so we are to expect either long delays going anywhere or just stay home until they say otherwise.
