Tyler was born a happy, healthy, bouncing baby boy. He was welcomed into the arms of his mom, dad, and big brother Dawson. Tyler always had a smile on his face. Dawson loved to play with Tyler.
At 4 months of age the families lives changed forever. Tyler was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). They began doing chemotherapy and Tyler was in and out of the hospital for many many months. After his battle for a while he went into remission. Tyler was able to go home and be with his family. He had a few ups and downs with illnesses, but all in all everything went well.
Tyler and his family welcomed a new baby boy into their arms in March. When Gabriel was born the parents decided to save his cord blood in hopes it would be able to be given to Tyler in the occurrence that his cancer were to come back.
Shortly after turning 2 years old Tyler's cancer came back. They began the chemotherapy and treatments again. He was on maintenance for several months and was to go home in December.
On September 15th, 2011 Tyler received his brothers cord blood which was a 100% match to him. He received a Bone Marrow Transplant as well. They were told that although he was a 100% match there was only a 20% change of survival due to him being so little and they've never done it on someone so young before.
We've all held out hope, prayed for this little boy. He has touched MANY hearts.
Shortly after receiving the transplant Tyler's body began to shut down. His liver became enlarged, his kidneys started to fail so he was placed on dialysis. Tyler was placed into the ICU on a ventilator and 14 other machines. Tyler came down with a few infections which in turn did disappear. Sadly, Tyler's body never recovered from the liver damage, kidneys and they also believe he had a small stroke.
On November 2, 2011 they removed the dialysis machine from Tyler. His BP meds were at their max and his BP was still dropping. Despite all their efforts to do everything they could for Tyler, there was nothing more. Tyler's mother got to hold him in her arms for the first time in 6 weeks for 3 hours before he passed away peacefully in her arms.
I can't even begin to imagine how much pain Tyler's family is in right now. Tyler is no longer in pain, he is no longer suffering and he is now in God's arms looking down on each and every one of us. No parent should EVER have to out live their child. No one should have to go through the pain this family is enduring.
Thank you to each and everyone of you who prayed for Tyler and his family during this time. This family is like family to me as I have known them for 5 years.
