It was a tough night because he woke up about 2:30 a.m. wanting his milk, but of course couldn't have anything after midnight. It's been a long day for Paul, myself and Kaleb. The girls stayed at their Nana and Papa's house. They had a nice slumber party.
Today was the day that Kaleb had his ENT surgery. We were to be there between 6 and 6:15. Surgery was scheduled for 7:20. We got there about 6:20 (we were already registered) and they took us right back. We got him in the gown and let him roam. He wasn't too pleased that he was being put in a gown and didn't like the band too much either.
The anesthesiologist came in and explained what he was going to do and then Dr. Capper (ENT) came in and told us what he was going to do as well. I was so comfortable with both of the doctors. They were VERY nice about everything. Dr. Capper is always a nice guy.
About 7:15 the anesthesiologist came in and got Kaleb. I was prepared for a big ole break down, but NOPE....he went right back with him without any trouble. The doctor was so gentle and nice to him. He let him open the doors himself and everything.
At about 7:40 Dr. Capper came in and told us that everything had gone well. He said that his adenoids NEEDED to come out because they were absolutely HUGE. It was a good thing we hadn't waited any longer to get either thing done because of the size of those and the fact that when he got into his ears the left one was full of puss :-( He will be on Amoxicillin for 7 days and Ear Drops for 5 days. The ear drops are normal, but because his ear was so pussy they want him on medications for another 7 days. He had just finished his Azithromyacin that he received last week when we went to the doctor.
About 8 a.m. they brought Kaleb back to us. He was NOT a happy camper when he saw the IV in his arm. They waited until he was under to place that in (thank goodness). He fussed for quite a while and we finally were able to get him to drink so we could get him home. He is doing better, but still a little fussy. They said his throat will hurt for about 2-3 days and to keep up on the Tylenol. He's sleeping soundly in our bed right now. Poor little guy has been through a lot today and he needs his sleep.
There are pictures on FB under my mobile photos. I forgot to take our camera today. Lack of sleep will make you VERY forgetful...LOL.
On another note....Katelinn went into the ENT (same doc) yesterday for a check up and she has her tube in her left ear, but not in the right. We will go back in October and will schedule another tube surgery for her then and for her to have the adenoids done as well. He said that she isn't anywhere near as urgent as his were. Thankfully.......I don't know if I could do 2 kids in less than a month again. Kaleb's tubes lasted him about 10 months and Katelinn's had hers almost a year. The most important thing is that they made it through the Winter without trouble.
So in closing.....I want to thank ALL of our friends and family for the prayers and positive thoughts they sent to us. It is so wonderful knowing we so many wonderful people in our lives. I don't know what we'd do without you all. Thank you again!!!
